OSKAR BLUES AUSTIN THROWS DOWN FOR 2-YEAR CANIVERSARY
August 23, 2018
Sweet Spirit to Headline Oskar Blues’ CANiversary Weekend
AUSTIN, TX, AUG. 22, 2018 – It’s been two years since the first can of Dale’s Pale Ale rolled off the
can line at Oskar Blues’ Austin, TX, facility. Sept. 14-15, the brewery celebrates another
CANiversary in true Oskar Blues style – with live music, specialty beers including barrel-aged
offerings and outdoor festivities. Friday evening will offer local music headlined by Austin-based
rock band Sweet Spirit; and the beer-soaked party overflows into Saturday, when folks are invited
to reconvene for Adult Field Day. Tix for Friday night’s concert are available here. A
commemorative pint glass is provided with each ticket purchase. There is no fee to attend
Saturday’s Adult Field Day.
“We’re really lucky to make craft beer in this city. Beer, music and community are key ingredients
for a happy life, and there are few places in the world where that recipe comes together as
naturally as it does in Austin,” said Michael Harris, Head Brewer of the Oskar Blues Austin
Brewery location. “We’re proud to be part of the rad happenings going on in this community.”
Friday, Sept. 14, the taproom will be open noon to 5pm, and then close for party prep between 5-
7pm. Oskar Blues wouldn’t leave folks beerless though – cold cans will be available on the patio
during prep time. Doors open at 7pm, and the show kicks off with Continental Drift at 8pm. The
local ten-piece band is known for laying down Afro-Centric grooves interwoven with Latin and
American funk, soul and psychedelia. At 9:30pm, Sweet Spirit, a nine-piece powerhouse, takes
the taproom stage. Sweet Spirit has received national attention and been praised as Austin’s
“next great rock band.”
While ears are occupied by Austin’s best local music, Acid Light Show will keep eyeballs busy. A
Cosmic Interdimensional Display (ACID) evoking 1960’s-style psychedelic liquid light freak-outs
will surround party-goers during the music.
A limited number of General Admission tickets for Friday night’s musical bash are available at the
taproom for the special price of $8. The rest are available here for $12.
On Saturday, Sept. 15, folks are invited to round up the squad for Adult Field Day. Participants can
grab a beer, get their game faces on and throw down in events like malt bag racing, a mini bike
relay, jumbo beer pong and more. REI will be on-site with an interactive tent and bicycle techs for
beer-loving bicyclists. Oskar Blues will also have kid-friendly activities available for younger
humans to enjoy. There is no admission fee on Saturday.
