OSKAR BLUES BREWERY BRINGS DEATH BY COCONUT IRISH PORTER BACK FOR 2018

Taproom Release Events To Take Place October 5, Followed by National Distribution

LONGMONT, CO, SEPTEMBER 19, 2018 – Oskar Blues Brewery announces a cult classic comeback – Death by Coconut Irish Porter returns for winter 2018 with kickoff events in taprooms on October 5. The seasonal brew marries flavors of bittersweet cacao and creamy coconut; asserts that beer is the perfect dessert; and invites believers to join the Death by Coconut Irish Porter Cult this season. The 6.5% ABV porter will be nationally distributed in 4-packs of 12oz cans starting in early October.

Chocolate and coconut are perfectly intertwined in a recipe that pleases the beer gods. “No false advertising here – it’s as straightforward a chocolate-and-coconut beer as it gets,” said Juice Drapeau, Head Brewer at the Oskar Blues pilot brewery in Lyons. “The chocolate-y malt flavors and coconut aroma and flavor are nicely balanced, and it’s not as viscous as a stout, which makes it more palatable.”

Death by Coconut was originally brewed as a small batch collaboration with Shamrock Brewing in 2014 and went on to earn a silver medal at GABF in the chocolate beer category. At that point, increased demand challenged brewers to find innovative ways to accentuate the rich chocolate flavor while increasing consistency and stability for distribution of the cult favorite outside of the taproom.

Boulder-based Cholaca provided the answer to the chocolate question. The product is made from three ingredients – water, cacao and coconut sugar – and allows brewers to give beer a rich, smooth chocolate flavor by adding liquid chocolate (cacao emulsified in water) rather than using cacao nibs or powders. Plus, the cacao is sourced directly from farmers and co-ops in Ecuador that utilize regenerative farming practices. “Now Cholaca is in over 700 breweries, in 50 states including Canada, in 15 countries, including Australia. That volume gives us the ability to import quality cacao. It helps us get the great stuff,” said Cholaca founder Ira Leibtag. “Without the great stuff, we end up with GMO and preservative-infiltrated product… and ruined rainforests.”

Cholaca’s bittersweet chocolate flavor comes together with raw, desiccated coconut and a malt bill based around Simpson’s Extra Dark Crystal. The result is a rich, dessert-y flavor with a light, approachable mouthfeel.

Folks interested in ritual beer-drinking, chocolate worship and coconut offerings are invited to join the Death by Coconut 2018 cult. The initiation happens on October 5. Check out party details here:

TEN FIDY IMPERIAL STOUT MAKES SUPERMASSIVE RETURN AUGUST 31

Oskar Blues Ushers in Ten FIDY Season with Taproom Parties and National Distribution

LONGMONT, CO, AUG 23, 2018 – Oskar Blues announces the return of Ten FIDY Imperial Stout – a huge, 10.5% ABV black hole of burly malt flavor. In a galaxy not-so-far away (the Oskar Blues brewery) brewers discovered a mathematical curiosity – a beer darker than dark – so dark that it has sucked up massive amounts of flavor and allowed no light to penetrate its malty opaqueness. Oskar Blues will celebrate the Imperial smoothness that is Ten FIDY Imperial Stout with release events in taprooms on August 31. Each taproom will feature a unique FIDY flight including vintage and barrel-aged variants. Ten FIDY will be distributed nationwide in 4-packs of 12oz cans.

Ten FIDY is made from immense amounts of big, dark malt including caramel and Munich malt alongside fluffy oats, resulting in a viscous, opaque cosmic beer entity. FIDY gravitates toward flavors of chocolate-covered caramel, espresso, black licorice and plum. A phenomenon that’s been described as “Beer, only better and darker,” FIDY is as supermassive as ever this fall.

In order to better understand Ten FIDY, Oskar Blues approached the beer’s leading expert, Randy Bayless. Randy replied to an Oskar Blues job posting on Craigslist in 2010 and 8 years later he operates out of the Brevard, NC, Brewery. During his tenure, he has likely imbibed more FIDY than anyone else in the world.

“FIDY is like one of those old-school black velvet paintings,” said Bayless. “The malt is a velvet canvas with deep, dark chocolate and coffee flavors painted across it to depict what the Big Bang probably looked like (obviously, so freaking rad that you can’t look at it without weeping and having a psychedelic experience). With an ornate stone-fruit frame, it’s a damn masterpiece.”

Gaze into the FIDY and the FIDY gazes back. Explore the depths of Ten FIDY with us at one of our release events coming up on August 31. For the first time EVER, we’ll have FIDY flights – complete with barrel-aged varieties like JAHvanilla Barrel-Aged Ten FIDY, Vanilla and Sugar Maple Wood Aged Ten FIDY, Tennessee Whiskey Barrel-Aged Ten FIDY and vintage FIDY variants from as far back as 2012. Flight options will vary according to taproom location. See flight lineups here:

Ten FIDY will be distributed nationwide beginning Aug. 31. No need to consult the stars in order to find Ten FIDY near you – just keep an eye on the beerfinder.

OSKAR BLUES ANNOUNCES LARGE FORMAT (15-PACK) CANUNDRUM MIXED-PACK, ADDS G’KNIGHT IMPERIAL IPA FOR NATIONAL DISTRIBUTION

Oskar Blues Large Format Packages are up Over 100% From 2017

LONGMONT, CO, AUG 22, 2018 – The Oskar Blues Brewery CANundrum variety pack, previously presented as a 12-pack, is now available as a 15-er dream team of the brewery’s best core offerings. Oskar Blues provides more diversity to the beer drinker with the new format, which will be distributed nationwide starting Sept. 1. Oskar Blues is one of only five craft breweries in the U.S. to release a mixed 15-pack.

Oskar Blues Brewery has crammed five straight-shooting brews into one box. So what’s inside?

•Dale’s Pale Ale
•Mama’s Little Yella Pils
•Pinner Throwback IPA
•Oskar Blues IPA
•G’Knight Imperial Red IPA (in a mixed pack for the first time)

Dale’s Pale Ale, the voluminously hopped mutha and #2 selling craft six-pack in U.S. Grocery, plays centre. This pack’s power forward is Mama’s Little Yella Pils, a true-to-the-style, uncompromising pilsner brewed with pilsner malt and Saaz and Aramis hops. Pinner Throwback IPA rocks the small forward position with citrusy, tropical fruit notes and a biscuity finish at an incredibly crushable 4.9% ABV. Playing shooting guard is OB IPA, a metamodern IPA crafted from hand-selected Australian hops. Rounding out the lineup is G’Knight Imperial Red Ale at point guard.

The U.S. Open Beer Championship recently honored G’Knight Imperial Red IPA with a gold medal in the Imperial Red IPA category. Up 121% in 2018, this monstrously malted, sadistically smooth and well-balanced beer is America’s Velvet M-80. G’Knight is an OG Oskar Blues beer brewed and named in honor of a real life American hero, Gordon Knight. Knight was a Colorado craft beer legend, decorated Vietnam vet and Purple Heart recipient who lost his life in a helicopter crash while fighting a wildfire outside of Oskar Blues’ birthplace of Lyons, CO.

The 15-pack offers more of what today’s craft drinker demands – variety. That desire is demonstrated by 32.6% growth YTD in mixed can packs. Additionally, many of the “Impact Brands” identified by the BA in 2017 were mixed pack offerings, demonstrated by the success of the Oskar Blues shrink-wrapped CANundrum 24 multi-pack with packaging engineered by The Dow Chemical Company, which is up over 400% YTD.

Oskar Blues’ CANundrum is the choicest choice you don’t have to make. Why pick one Oskar Blues beer when you can have ‘em all? Play to win and find a 15-pack CANundrum near you using the beerfinder.

OSKAR BLUES AUSTIN THROWS DOWN FOR 2-YEAR CANIVERSARY

Sweet Spirit to Headline Oskar Blues’ CANiversary Weekend

AUSTIN, TX, AUG. 22, 2018 – It’s been two years since the first can of Dale’s Pale Ale rolled off the
can line at Oskar Blues’ Austin, TX, facility. Sept. 14-15, the brewery celebrates another
CANiversary in true Oskar Blues style – with live music, specialty beers including barrel-aged
offerings and outdoor festivities. Friday evening will offer local music headlined by Austin-based

to reconvene for Adult Field Day. Tix for Friday night’s concert are available here. A
commemorative pint glass is provided with each ticket purchase. There is no fee to attend
Saturday’s Adult Field Day.

“We’re really lucky to make craft beer in this city. Beer, music and community are key ingredients
for a happy life, and there are few places in the world where that recipe comes together as
naturally as it does in Austin,” said Michael Harris, Head Brewer of the Oskar Blues Austin
Brewery location. “We’re proud to be part of the rad happenings going on in this community.”

Friday, Sept. 14, the taproom will be open noon to 5pm, and then close for party prep between 5-
7pm. Oskar Blues wouldn’t leave folks beerless though – cold cans will be available on the patio
during prep time. Doors open at 7pm, and the show kicks off with Continental Drift at 8pm. The
local ten-piece band is known for laying down Afro-Centric grooves interwoven with Latin and
American funk, soul and psychedelia. At 9:30pm, Sweet Spirit, a nine-piece powerhouse, takes
the taproom stage. Sweet Spirit has received national attention and been praised as Austin’s
“next great rock band.”

While ears are occupied by Austin’s best local music, Acid Light Show will keep eyeballs busy. A
Cosmic Interdimensional Display (ACID) evoking 1960’s-style psychedelic liquid light freak-outs
will surround party-goers during the music.

A limited number of General Admission tickets for Friday night’s musical bash are available at the
taproom for the special price of $8. The rest are available here for $12.

On Saturday, Sept. 15, folks are invited to round up the squad for Adult Field Day. Participants can
