Sarah fell in love with jazz when her childhood vocal coach, Mr. C, introduced her to Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald when she was thirteen years old. Mr. C had grown up a piano virtuoso in midcentury Chicago, where he played in many famous clubs with the likes of Louis Armstrong and Debbie Reynolds. He had endless stories of his time as a youthful musican that Sarah never grew weary of hearing (and Mr. C never tired of telling)
