This Award-Winning Festival includes 3 national-touring bands, 200+ beers, and outdoor adventures for families,dogs, and 1000’s of ColoRADoans.
The Burning Can Fest at the Lyons Outdoor Games, presented by Oskar Blues Brewery and the Town of Lyons, today released the full schedule of events and music for the 2017 festival taking place the first weekend in June. A celebration of craft beer in a can and the adventurous lifestyle, the Burning Can Fest at the Lyons Outdoor Games combines outdoor adventure sports, beer, music, and camping at the foot of the Rockies.

Kick things off with morning events including prAna and Hugger Mugger’s all-terrain yoga, and the LaSportiva Trail Run Relay. Runners can also enter the ‘Beer Relay’ division and pop open an ice-cold Oskar Blues beer before each lap of the majestic 5k lap.
Bike lovers can bring their bikes for a cruiser ride along one of Colorado’s most scenic roads, watchPSBMXOutlaws of Dirt featuring BMX and Mountain Bike riders from across the US.Skill-boosting mountain bike rides and clinics will be lead by a world champion rider, Jeff Lenosky.
New to the festival is “Dock Dogs”, the world’s premiere canine aquatics competition, where local and pro dogs will show off their big air and speed retrieval skills. Also new for 2017 is a kids and adult Play Ground with obstacle courses and interactive competitions.
Kayaking has a long history with the festival and this year’s event will feature a slalom race on the brand new, world-class course at LaVern JohnsonPark in Lyons.
Other events include KEEN footwear sponsored hikes, a Corn Hole tournament, Slack Line demos, and a Disc Golf Tournament.
Over 200 different beers can be sampled at the beer fest, which features over 60 breweries from around the country. Each brewery will showcase their best ‘canned’ beers at the festival, honoring the canned craft beer movement, which Oskar Blues pioneered 15 years ago.
As the beer fest ends,the music begins with a stellar line up of funk, rock & a heavy dose of horns. Phiily’s Mo Lowda and the Humble kick off the jams followed by Orgone’s 8-piece California soul and funk fusion. Headlining the show is Brooklyn’sRubble Bucket, which is sure to bring down the house with their indie pop danceable beat.
Wrapping up the festival is the ‘Burning of the Can’, where a larger-than-life custom-fabricated OskarBlues Can is torched, creating a mesmerizing spectacle of fire. Attendees cant hen retire to their tents and RVs at the gateway to the Rockies or take a shuttle back to the host hotel.
While the event is big on fun, it was designed with the mission to raise funds for the Town of Lyons,which is still recovering from the 2013 flood, and for CAN’d Aid, a national non-profit focused on 4 areas of do-goodery. CAN’d Aid will host a bike build for underprivileged children at the festival from noon – 2pm, and festival-goers are invited to join.
