This holiday season, we cracked some cans and pretended to “research” the best ways to pair holiday treats with Oskar Blues Brewery libations. Show up to your next holiday party and impress your friends with these tasty pairing suggestions:
Mama’s Little Yella Pils – Nosh on smoked salmon next to Mama’s Little Yella Pils – a crisp, refreshing German-style pilsner. The beer’s clean finish provides refreshing contrast to the smoky, slight oiliness of the fish. On the sweeter side, pair Mama’s with Big Therm’s Super Heady Berries & Cream. Rich homemade beer-whipped cream and fresh berries shine when paired with the slightly dry, super crisp pils.
Wild Basin Boozy Sparkling Water in Classic Lime – Freshen up your holiday party snackage and pair Wild Basin Classic Lime with a zesty, fresh ceviche salad. The brightness of cilantro, tomato and lime play well with the effervescence and citrus of the boozy water.
Barrel-Aged Ten FIDY Imperial Stout – Double down on big, roasty, dark chocolate flavors by pairing BA Ten FIDY with bourbon balls. The richness of the dessert riffs on the decadent chocolate-y liquid. Alternately, try this beastly brew with gingerbread cookies. The spice stands up well against the viscous, darker-than-dark beer.
Ten FIDY Imperial Stout – The malty, espresso, licorice, plum flavors of Ten FIDY work well with spice, so we paired it with sweet potato pie. The cinnamon pops against the malty FIDY backdrop, and then the creamy sweet potato custard melts into FIDY’s dark abyss.
