It’s back– Deviant Dale’s IPA, a sensory assault for hop lovers. Join us this Saturday, August 27th, at the Original Oskar Blues Grill & Brew for a PIG smokin’ BeerBQ to celebrate the release of this crazy beer.

At 8% ABV, four hop additions, and a final excessive wallop of Columbus dry-hopping, this beer is meant to say one thing: MORE HOPS! The Deviant is a returning favorite from the little brewery in Lyons, Colorado that started the CANNED Revolution with Dale’s Pale Ale.

In addition to the smokin’ pig we’ll have going in a serving tank-turned BBQ pit, we’ll have a pie baking contest, dunk tank, three bands going, and, of course, BEER! Music talents include Aaron Stueck, a local guitarist from Boulder, Discolored Perception, From Snowmass, and Thunder Porpoise.

Oskar Blues Brewery and Old Chicago restaurants will be offering a very limited and exclusive release of the monstrously hoppy Deviant Dale’s India Pale Ale at all Colorado Old Chicago locations. The launch is set for January 26th, 2011.

The brew is a deviant double of the iconic Dale’s Pale Ale. This devilish India Pale Ale is a sensory assault for hop lovers. At 7.5 percent ABV, four hop additions during the brewing process, and a final wallop of excessive Columbus dry-hopping, this beer is meant to say one thing: MORE HOPS. This beer will be released to the public on Wednesday, January 26th at the “I Love Beer” Mini Tour kick off party at all Colorado Old Chicago locations. Below is a list of OB Pint Night & Meet the Brewery nights that are set up to support the collaboration.

This is the FIRST time that Oskar Blues has brewed a small batch for a restaurant (outside of the small batch brews that fuel its own venue’s, the Lyons, CO Grill & Brew and Longmont, CO Home Made Liquids & Solids). During the “I Love Beer” mini tour, Deviant Dales will be available on draught exclusively at all Colorado Old Chicago restaurants January 26th, through February 14th (or until the tap has dried up). Although this is the first collaboration between Oskar Blues & Old Chicago, the companies share much in the way of history. Dale Katechis, the heart & soul owner of Oskar Blues gained experience within the Old Chicago group of restaurants & was the General Manager at the Longmont Old Chicago location which is now only a few blocks away from Oskar Blues Home Made Liquids & Solids. Dave Chichura, Oskar Blues head brewer, has four years of history with Rock Bottom Brewery, a sister concept to Old Chicago under parent company Craftworks Restaurants and Breweries, Inc.

Living up to its slogan of DISESTABLISHMENTARIAN, the GUBNA draft line has run dry at Home Made Liquids and Solids and at the Tasty Weasel Taproom. The good news is that you won’t have to wait long to enjoy our newest seasonal – a 10% ABV, 100 IBUs Hop Grenade that is ready to be canned next week!

To celebrate the canning of the first batch of GUBNA, please join us at the GUBNA FULL RELEASE party at the Tasty Weasel Taproom on Thursday, March 4^th beginning at 3pm.

Since we left you hangin’ on GUBNA draft for a week, we’re gonna shake the establishment up a bit and have some fun with a few GUBNA first-release contests. The winner of the first contest will be invited to experience a behind-the-scenes viewing of the first-ever canning of GUBNA Imperial IPA at 2pm on Thursday, March 4^th!

Give the GUBNA a Harrumph. Harrumph.

To enter this contest, submit a short paragraph or two (400 words or less) giving us your best, most creative description of the word “Disestablishmentarian”. Send your entry to info@oskarblues.com. We’ll choose our favorite description and that winner will receive not only an invitation to be among the first to celebrate this exciting event at the first canning but we’ll also give away the first canned 4-pack as well as a t-shirt and other goodies.

To be considered, entries must be received by midnight on Sunday, February 28, 2010 – that’s this coming Sunday! We’ll post them all on our website and choose the winner by 5pm on Monday, March 1^st.

GUBNA Imperial IPA

Emphasizing complexity of character can arise from simple elements, this ale is made with 3 malts & a single Summit hop. Its light amber color & slightly spicy malt character are derived from the use of German Dark Munich Malt & Rye Malt respectively. This beer will greet with a pungent citrus blast, provide a spicy yet round middle & finish with a brisk, clean bitterness. (10% ABV, 100IBU’s)
