This year, Oskar Blues decided to do something it’s never done before (shocker??). We joined forces with a local race car and race team at the Colorado National Speedway, just down the road from the brewery in Longmont. And we’re STOKED!

Rocky Mountain Motorsports (RMM)), a Super Late Model Stock Car team based in Brighton, Colorado will be competing at Colorado National Speedway (CNS), located in Erie, CO, five times this coming season in the NASCAR Whelen American Series Super Late Model Division. Whether you’re a die-hard NASCAR fan, or a newbie to the scene, come check it out with us! Our team is racing May 27, June 30, August 11, September 2, and September 29 – plus, we’re opening up the season with a special run this weekend, 4/21.

We’ll be doing beer samplings at the race track on select dates, and Mama’s Little Yella Pils CANS will be available there all season long. In addition, the Dale’s Pale Ale 2-seater ride along car will be displayed at the track on our car’s race days. Wanna ride? Fans will be able to experience the high speed thrill of turning some laps in a real NASCAR vehicle with an accomplished driver!

And on June 30th, Oskar Blues is hostin’ an all out, OB-style ho-down at the race track. We’ll have the Bonewagon Food Truck, beer samplings, a special VIP area, and the Oskar Blues Fireworks Show.

The races at CNS are only the beginning of the racing season’s festivities, as the team and car will make several appearances along the Colorado Front Range as well. We have several “meet and greets” set up locally with the driver & team, and of course, the car! We’ve already made a stop at Tipsy’s Liquor World a few weeks ago!

Some other race car appearances:

4/28 – March for Babies in support of March of Dimes Foundation in Greeley
5/4 – Twin Peak Liquor in Longmont
5/25 – Twin Peaks Restaurant in Colorado Mills
6/9 -Brewgrass South Pearl Music Festival in Denver
7/20 – Morrison Liquor in Morrison

Check out the calendar on the Rocky Mountain Motorsports Facebook page for more information on these events.

Rocky Mountain Motorsports is owned by Kevin & Melissa Steinke who live in Morrison, Colorado. Kevin and Melissa have been fortunate enough to have the services of Cris Muhler to drive their race car. Cris has been driving stock cars for over 20 years and has raced almost every type of car that competes at CNS, winning in all of them.

A few month’s back, we got to thinkin’ of some things we’ve never done, and partnering up with a race team was one of them. So we thought, why not! That’s our style – pushing boundaries while tying local communities together. Local racing, local beer, local people. A match made in our race car heaven! CAN ya dig it?

Top Chef Northern Colorado, a benefit raising money for the non-profit organization “A Kids Place,” took place on Saturday, October 15, and raised over $23,000 for abused & neglected children in Weld County. This friendly competition between the some of Northern Colorado’s top chefs included celebrity judges, live music and a silent auction. Our executive chef, Jason Rogers, was awarded the “Top Chef Northern Colorado” and “People’s Choice” awards. “A Kid’s Place,” is a collaborative organization that works to provide services for children who have been abused and neglected by utilizing two nationally acclaimed programs, The Child Advocacy Center and the CASA Program (Court Appointed Special Advocate).

Last year’s benefit raised over $11,000 for abused and neglected children in Weld County with a 2011 goal set for $12,500. This year’s well-attended event nearly doubled that number, collecting $23,000!!!

Rogers’ award at Top Chef comes on the heels of our 2 restaurants (Lyons & Longmont, CO) winning the Best Longmont/Lyons Restaurant Award from the 2011 Daily Camera’s Boulder County Gold Awards. These awards are determined by asking locals to write in about their favorite businesses. The choices are tallied up and the top-voted businesses win.

If you didn’t make it to the event this year, try to come next year so you don’t miss out on our Ten Fidy Bourbon Milk Chocolate Bacon Truffle Balls…

Beer Culture the Movie is a feature length documentary explaining the cultural phenomena behind the American craft beer movement. The movie utilizes the great beer state of Colorado telling stories of the struggles and successes of some of the state’s top breweries to ultimately show consumers how the craft beer industry is a driving force in the economic growth of America.

Colorado’s craft beer industry is unique and key showing the impact the beer industry is able to make on the economy. Colorado’s liquor laws were originally adopted to keep the mob out of liquor sales—today, the states liquor laws keep big business out of the small, independent liquor retail market. These laws have shaped the thriving beer culture that is alive, supported, and constantly growing in the state. Beer Culture the Movie used Colorado to show how the American dream is still being achieved, how supporting small business begets a healthy economy and how vitally important it is to not underestimate the power of supporting the American Craft Beer Industry.

“Craft beer is the perfect metaphor for the American Dream.” Governor John Hickenlooper.

Dales Pale Ale, the classic OB can, pours next. It’s voluminously hopped, perfect for a spicy blackened sea scallop.

Third, cedar plank Alaskan Salmon pairs with G’Night. The brew is an imperial red double IPA, velvety and hefty enough for the smoke of the cedar and the creamy texture of the fish.

Gubna is a massive IPA, and it’s citrus and spice match perfectly with a slow-braised Longs Farm pork belly.

The savory courses conclude with a beef tenderloin “patty melt” paired with “Rocky Mountain Mutha’s Milk”, Old Chub. It’s the classic pairing of scotch ale and a big sammy.

Creamy chocolatecoffeecaramel flavors of the TenFidy blend beautifully with stout mascarpone cheesecake with Colorado cherries.

A few reservations are available! Saturday, July 30th, 6:30pm. $50 per person, all inclusive.
