Weekday Music

April starts this month on a Tuesday with our ever- popular Tuesday night Bluegrass pick hosted by K. C. Groves and Eric Thorin. This is the best bluegrass pick in Boulder County so bring over your acoustic instrument and join in with some of the best pickers around.

Speaking of jams on Monday the 14th (second Monday of the month) is our very informal acoustic plug-in blues jam hosted by Peter Maves, Patrick Cullie and Brian Donnell, from 7:30-10pm, it is lots of fun and everybody gets to play.

On Monday the 28th we have the Niwot High School jazz band #2 on stage starting at 7pm these kids can really play I encourage you to come and support these hard working kids, you will be surprised at their abilities and songs.

Thursday this month start with the 3rd and Lonesome Traveler www.myspace.com/lonesometravelerblue grassband a great bluegrass outfit from Loveland, great musicians and soaring harmonies.

Then Thursday the 10th we are having a bluegrass scramble with K. C. Groves www.kcgroves.com hosting, all players are welcome to play on the downstairs stage with or without K. C. all levels welcome.

The 17th we will have Coyote Moon trio www.emily nsmusic.com with Emilyn Inglis, Coyote Joe and Caleb Roberts for some fun bluegrass style music all from right here in Lyons.

On Thursday the 24th we will feature a great little two piece band from New York Two Man Gentlemen band www.www.two-man-gentlemen-band.com They combine early-jazz, old-time country, and vaudevillian-swing to create a joyous two-man sound that is all their own. This is serious fun.

Sunday Music

Sundays start with our big Merle Haggard Birthday bash on Merle's birthday April 6th; this is going to be a very big day with lots of local professional musicians celebrating his big day with Merle's tunes.
We will have our first of the year Bar-B- Que smokedown all you can eat and music all day long. We will start at 4pm and go till 9pm with Halden Wofford and the Hi-Beans, Spring Creek Bluegrass band, Boulder Acoustic Society, Whiskey Trip, The Double 8's, K. C. Groves, Troy Schoenfelder and Dana Kyle stokes just to name a few.
It will be $10 entry and $20 if you want to eat and all the proceeds will be matched by Dale from Oskar's and sent to the Blue Sky Bridge organization for abused kids in Boulder County. So be there, have some fun, some great food and music and help us gather donations for these troubled kids.

The 13th we will have John Alex Mason www.johnalex mason.com all the way from Colorado Springs. John was a finalist in the big International Blues Challenge in Memphis a couple of months ago and plays as a one man blues band it is amazing and should be heard by everyone.

Danny Shafer brings his Americana band the Unknown Americans www.dannyshafer .com to Oskar for some great original music and some Americana favorites.

The Velvet Elvis www.mysp ace.com/thevelvete is finally going to do a show with his band at Oskar on Sunday the 27th besides the obvious Elvis covers Chris and the band play great rockabilly stuff for all to enjoy, he is the real deal folks. Humma Humma!!

Weekend Music

The weekend shows this month are going to be hot. Starting on Friday the 4th with Colorado guerrilla grass from Oakhurst www.porchmusic. com a Denver based acoustic instrument but electric band that plays lots of great original tunes. They may use the typical bluegrass instruments but this is not a typical bluegrass band. It will be a party.

Dana Kyle Stokes www.danakyles tokes.net will have his great country band here on Saturday April the 5th complete with wailing steel guitar and plenty of old country standards by Willie, Waylon and the Boys.

April 11th we have John Nemeth www.johnne methblues.com appearing with his blues band, John is nominated for best new Blues artist of the year and will probably take that award in May at the Blues Music Awards held in Tunica Mississippi this year for the first time. John has a wonderful voice and is a great harmonica player and writes great songs. Don't miss this show, as he is about to become a big blues star.

John Common www.johncomm on.com is bringing his great roots rock band from Denver with John's award winning song writing ability this will be a hot show. It will also feature a surprise songwriter from Denver opening John's show.

Friday the 18th it will mark the return of silver- voiced Romano Paoletti and his great band of friends featuring Caleb Roberts and Eric Thorin, Romano always fills the house so be sure to get there early (8pm-midnight show) and get a seat and bring the whole family early for the first set.

The Delta Sonics www.deltasonics.n et are at Oskar's on Saturday the 19th with their harmonica based blues music. Al Chesis one of the best in the Denver area will entertain you and may even get up on the bar while playing, good Chicago style blues.

Wendy Woo www.wendywoo.co m will be returning to Oskar's on Friday the 25th. It's been a couple of years since we have gotten this great female singer/songwriter to play Oskar's and it is always a pleasure to have her bring her music to Lyons, so catch her and this opportunity to hear what she has been doing lately.

Saturday the 26th we have one of our favorite singer/songwriters Mr. Jeff Finlin www.jefffinlin.com back at Oskar's. A unique songwriter Jeff's songs are landscapes of wonder and angst. Jeff is a cross between Tom Waits and Randy Newman come hear his thought-provoking songs and great band. Well it should be another great month of music at Oskar Blues hope to see you there with a beer in your hand.
