Hop harvest for 2011 is behind us, and we were very pleased with the cone development and yield for the first year. First year hops are sometimes not harvested because of their inconsistency. We hand selected the best cones and had them analyzed by two independent labs for Alpha and Beta acid content plus HSI (hop Storage Index). This is all in an effort to begin to acquire a database assuring the highest quality Home Grown Hops for the future. Is is so important to harvest the hops at the correct time optimizing the cones brewability. The pro brewers and Oskar Blues deserve the very best and will accept nothing less!
Our latest brew made with hops from the farm is HGH Dry Hopped Strong Ale- on tap now at Home Made Liquids & Solids in Longmont, as well as some select accounts. In addition to this brew, we have a handful of events during Great American Beer Festival that will feature beers made with hops from the farm, as well as food prepared with beef grown at the farm.
The main feature of our Hops & Heifers farm is our Hump Day Hops & Heifers Hoedown in Lyons on Wednesday, 9/28, 5-10pm. Be sure to buy your tickets to the good ol’ hootennany featuring the jammin’ local band Halden Wofford & the Hi Beams playing alongside our Hops & Heifers beef & beer inspired buffet ($25).
Check out the other events we have featuring our home-grown hopped-beers during Great American Beer Festival (9/28–10/1).
For more information or questions about the farm, send me an email, farmergeoff@oskarblues.com.
Any questions about events, please contact Brittany@oskarblues.com. Cheers!

Will the HGH be distributed to Oregon, and will it be available in bottles/cans?
Thanks!
James
