What up Chi-Town! We’re headin’ your way in late August.
Many of you know by now that the “Canned Beer Apolocalypse” began ten years ago, when we starting canning our voluminously hoppy Dale’s Pale Ale at the Oskar Blues Grill & Brew in Lyons, Colorado. Now, we’re bringin’ our brew-train to Chicago, where we’ve partnered up with craft savvy Windy City Distribution to expand their line of boundary busting canned beer to the burgeoning craft beer scene of Chicago.
To start, we’ll be gettin’ our beers into the eight county-areas around Chicago, and will kick off with tons of events and promotions the week of August 20th. Continued growth over the last few years, including the addition of our North Carolina brewing location (up & running this December!) has allowed us the capacity to make the Chicago market only the second official new market for Oskar Blues in the past three years.
What many of you probably don’t know yet is that our head brewer, Dave Chichura, has long-standing ties in the Chicago craft beer scene. He was the original head brewer for Rock Bottom Brewery in Warrenville, IL in 1998. During his time in Chicago, he was introduced to friends Jim & Jason Ebel of Two Brothers Brewing Company, Peter Crowley, owner of The Haymarket Pub & Brewery, as well as to Tim Marshall who has recently opened Solemn Oath Brewery in Naperville. Chichura is excited to be back in the Chicago craft beer scene and for the collaboration opportunities with old friends.
We gotta full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it’s dark, and we’re wearing sunglasses…Hit it.

This is fantastic news!!! Monthly trips to Wisconsin will no longer be required after 8/20, thank you!!!!
I’m wishing that y’all will be able to do a wider distribution in Illinois at some point. Not that I don’t mind trips to Chicagoland.
Hey Jeff, Now that we’re in the marketplace in Chicago, we’ll definitely look to distribute outside of the Chicago area once we establish ourselves there. Cheers!
I cannot wait for 8/20!!!! I head out to Lyons/Boulder maybe once a year if I am lucky, and I always bring back a few cases of Dale’s, a bunch of 4pks of G’knight and maybe some Gubna if funds are right. Sometimes I even have beer left over by the time I get back to the Chi! Wisconsin always runs out of stock, and I guarantee Chicago-land will fall in love with all y’alls brews because QUALITY SELLS! Hope production can keep up! Cheers!!!!
Finally!!!! I have been waiting 18 months since I first encountered OB in Dallas. Talked to a guy at Binny’s about a year ago and he told me about the capacity issue and now it is solved. You will have a solid fan base here. Look forward to seeing you at the World of Beer OB launch party. No more solo beer runs to Wisconsin.
Nice! We can’t wait to get there and bring some sweet, sweet Colorado nectar to your neck of the woods.
