January the 1st is a Thursday, so lets start with Thursdays in January, which will be fabulous. The 1st we have a new local band called the Slick Allen trio they are led by Michele Allen and play bluegrass and Americana music. Next on the 8th is Rue another local band that plays gypsy jazz led by Lyons own Brian Schey with Erin Humphries. On the 15th we will feature The Gougers they are a hot band originally from Texas with great songs and great performers don’t miss this one. Then Mike & Amy Finders will be here on the 22nd who recently relocated to Fort Collins and are taking the area by storm with their great vocal harmonies and original bluegrass songs. The last Thursday the 29th is Country Dog another new local band with Jon Ridnell, Jordan Ramsey and Old Time Dave Talmidge playing hot bluegrass music and more.

Sundays this month are also exciting with lots of local talent. The 4th brings back K. C. Groves and the Moody Sisters an all female group of great singers and songwriters in the bluegrass and ole- timey music vein. January the 11th will be local favorites The Blue Mountain Ranch Hands led by Zeke and Jani Little with Nancy Thorwardson playing western swing and old country favorites. The 18th will showcase and old favorite Beth Wood  and her band who recently located in Lyons. She has been a finalist in most of the singer/songwriter competitions in the country. And we end Sundays in January on the 25th with another local group called Coyote Moon with Emilyn Inglis and Coyote Joe doing their brand of old time country and roots music.

We will have some great special shows on Wednesdays in January starting with my new favorite group The Band of Heathens they have taken Americana music and turned it on it’s ear and are up on top of the Americana charts from Austin Texas. They rock, this is my number one show all month don’t miss these guys. Then the 21st we have our tribute to the Beatles run by our own Jami Lunde. Then on the 28th we will have another Eve and Friends led Oskar’s Eve Folden with lots of other Oskar employees joining her. On Tuesday the 27th will have those greats kids from the Longmont Youth Jazz All-Stars starting at 7:30pm, come support these great kids. Monday the 19th will be our great acoustic, plug-in blues jam and open stage from 7:30-10pm come join in the fun.

Weekends start with Bluez House on Friday the 2nd a big horn driven band led by Paul Soderman on vocals wear your dancing shoes for this one. Followed by an old regular Dave Davis with his band featuring Steve Jenks our old soundman. Then Jeff Finlin will be back with his great songs on Friday the 9th with his great band. Jeff is without a doubt the finest unknown songwriter in Colorado and beyond, come over and hear this gem of a songwriter. Saturday the 10th it’s blues with one of Denver’s best bluesman Maynard Mills he always pays tribute to the greats and will make you boogie to his music. Jeff Strahan  from Texas returns on the 16th with his great vocals and piano and guitar sounds. They play everything from Johnny Cash to Muddy Waters. Gretchen Troop and her band descend on Oskar’s on Friday the 23rd with Gretchen’s vocals on everything from blues, to jazz to R&B they will make you take notice and move something. Saturday the 24th is a reunion for one of the best blues bands in Denver from the 80’s The Captain and the Red Hot Flames. David Booker (The Captain) has put together a line-up of The Old Flames and it should be a hoot bring your dancing shoes. The 30th will be K. C. Groves and The Road Agents made up of individuals from touring band that are home for the holidays always a great show but hard to say who will be joining her but it will be special.
