Friday the 4th of July we will have Gretchen Troop formally of the Shaman's at Oskar's with her new band The Gretchen Troop band www.gretchentroopband.com/singer Gretchen
is joined by Randall Dubis on guitar and Jodie Woodward on bass. She is
an exceptional vocalist who spent time in New York City and San
Francisco honing her trade, and very well I might add.
The 5th will be the return of Paul Soderman with Blueze Hause
a 7- piece horn band. Some of you might remember Paul and the Boulder
Blues Club one of the first boulder area Blues band to make it big
around here. Paul's voice is described as a cross between Joe Cocker
and Delbert McClinton.
Friday the 11th will be a great night of funk and dancing. Harmonius Junk www.harmoniusjunk.com will
be here with James Brown's bass player. Damon Wood former guitarist
with James Brown is having a CD release party for their new record
entitled "Too Cocky in Nagasaki" with The Godfather of Soul's bass
player Fred Taylor this show will be jumping from start to finish. If
you like the funk you know where to be.
Saturday the 12th it will be one of our favorite local bands Maynard Mills, www.maynardmillsblues.com Maynard
always pays his respects to the old masters with his repertoire of
classic blues and funk tunes and may even play some old style dobro
slide guitar as well.
The Devil Boy Eddie Turner www.eddiedevilboy.com will play on Friday the 18th.
Squeezing one show in Colorado between a long tour of the Southwest and
California in the next couple of months. Eddie was voted best new blues
act in 2006 come on over and see why. He is a monster on the guitar ala
Jimi Hendrix or Stevie Ray Vaughan.
The Teresa Lynne band www.mistressoftheblues.com will
be at Oskar's on Saturday the 19th for the first time in many years;
Teresa is a fine harmonica player and sports a very tight band from
Denver. She has been described as one of the last Red Hot Mama's come
and hear why. That's the month of July in a nutshell; hope to see ya at
Oskar's getting your groove on.
