Greetings!
Ten
Fidy earns "Beer of the Year" Honor Our new winter seasonal, Ten FIDY
Imperial Stout, was just deemed "Beer of the Year" by the Denver Post.
It's a huge honor for FIDY and our brewery, we're knocked out by the
big acclaim for our latest canned good! See the full review here : http://www.denverpost.com/search/ci_7754479
Oskar Blues Wins Big Honors from Beer Advocate The new year-in-review
issue of Beeradvocate Magazine has just been released, it includes
loads of honors for us. The best of our honors: BA's readers gave Oskar
Blues Brewery a heady 8th ranking in the magazine's Top 25 American
Brewers list. Oh yeah! Ten FIDY also landed a spot in BA founders Todd
& Jason Alstrom's list of Top 25 Beers from around the world. Huge!
Ten FIDY was also reviewed in the current issue's review section and
earned a rare "A" rating. The review included this lovely testimonial:
This one puts the "A" in "Holy Crap!" Our beloved Gordon was also
reviewed and earned a hearty "B+" rating and glowing praise for its
immensely hoppy nose and "great balance of bold flavor and
drinkability." We agree!
We send out big thanks to BA's founders and its members for the glorious accolades, get details at www.beeradvocate.co m .
Cost of Beer Supplies Rises
The craftbrewing industry is wrestling with some extremely increased
costs for malts and hops. Our costs for malts in 2008 have risen about
100%, and the costs for hops have increased by as much as 300% for some
hop varieites.
The dramatic increase for malt has been fueled by US farmers shifting
from growing barley to growing corn for ethanol production. The rising
hop prices are the result of hop shortages due to failed crops, hop
warehouse fires, and increased beer production by some of the world's
major brewers.
But we hope you'll continue to buy our beer and spend your precious
beer bucks with us. We hope you'll continue to support our efforts at
bringing gourmet beer to our fans across Colorado and the US. And we
thank you for your wonderful support over the past five years.
One more FIDY Note We'll have more Ten FIDY in cans around the end of
January, look for it in select retailers in Colorado. A small batch of
FIDY (in cans and kegs) will also reach the best bars and stores in a
few of our other states in late January. Keep your eyes peeled for it
and get it while it lasts!
