More Big Ink
The June issue of the incomparable Gourmet magazine includes a
wonderful piece by Drinks editor James Rodewald on the joys and rise of
microcanned beer. Oskar Blues and our mighty hand-canned beers are
featured in the story. Rodewald deems Dale's Pale Ale one of his
"favorite pop top options." Lovely! See it on page 76 of the magazine.
The June issue of the revered Sunset Magazine has a full-page piece on
our beloved Lyons, Colorado. The piece touts Oksar Blues, as well as
Cilantro mary's, The Stone Cup, and our town's other shopping
recreational and natural wonders. Find it on page 42.
The esteemed Washington Post has just run a glorious feature on Oskar
Blues, our beers, and the microcanning niche we've pioneered. Read all

HALL RANCH CHALLENGE
Hall Ranch is Lyons' own local mountain bike tour de force. In order
for us to enforce the message of get out and ride, we've decided to
offer up a challenge for any and all who are willing to take us up on
it.
Here's the deal... Between now and September 1st, ride the 11 mile loop
at Hall Ranch. Then come in to Oskar Blues and log your time and date.
Once you've logged your time, we will reward you with a free cold draft
beer of your choice.
On September 1, 2007 we will award two grand prizes;
Most miles logged.

Friday and Saturday Nights

June
starts on a Friday this year so let's get right into the great music we
have planned for you this month on Friday & Saturdays starting with
the Maynard Mills blues band www.Maynardmi llsblues.com June
1st. Maynard is bringing the talented Ricardo Pena to play keys with
him this time which should ad another dimension to an already great
show featuring classic blues and funk.
Saturday June 2nd we have Curly "no shoes" Jr. band www.curlynoshoesjr. com with the Oklahoma Blues Hall of Fame soulful Blues shouter Miss Blues, if you caught her last time I don't need to tell you how endearing she is.
Jockamo will bring their New Orleans style blues, funk and Cajun fired music on Friday the 8th
The powerful Johnny O band www.johnnyoband.co m performs on Saturday the 9th with great harmony vocals and searing guitar.
Chris Smith and the Hammersmith band
return to Oskar's after many years on Friday the 15th. Chris has played
with mega-stars like Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson; he is a great
harmonica player, singer/songwriter and entertainer from California.
The fire really starts on Saturday the 16th when the one and only son of the Boogie man himself John Lee Hooker Jr. www.johnleeh ooker.com
comes back to Oskar's after a couple of years of tearing up the blues
scene around the world. John is a class guy who really knows how to
party, so don't miss this one it will be hot. Tickets will be on sale in advance for $20.
J. W. Jones www.jw-jones.com from
Canada comes to Oskar's for the first timeon the 22nd. He is a big star
up north and is an up and comer. Kim Wilson produced one of his CD to
great critical acclaim and right fully so. This young band is a great
swing type band that plays very good original blues and will make you
want to dance all night.
Roger Hurricane Wilson www.hurricanewils on.com from
Georgia will be here will his band on Saturday night the 23rd. Roger
has been at this a long time and actually jammed with such guitar
royalty like Albert Collins, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Roy Buchanon and Les
Paul.
Next Friday the 29th Curtis Salgado, www.curtissalga do.com who
received a liver transplant and a new lease on life will be at Oskar's
with a big festival horn band which is how John Belushi used to see him
when he inspired John to start the Blues Brothers, This will be one
hell of a night of great music and fun another show to be sure you see
this month. Tickets will be on sale in advance for this show for $20
. David Booker www.davidbooker.com is here with his blues band on Saturday the 30th to finish off a great Friday & Saturday line-up for ya.

Sundays start off on the 3rd with The Blues Mountain Ranch Hands featuring Lyons own fiddler extraordinaire Zeke Little with some very fine female vocalists playing ole time music.
The Billy Pilgrims www.myspace.com/thebillypilgrimsband return with their new fiddle player on the 10th.
Todd Livingston www.toddplivingston .com and Sally Van Meter will play the fathers day Bar B Que on the patio from 3-6pm with dueling dobros.
Then a great young band from the Nashville area The Farewell Drifters www.thefarewelld rifters.com showcase their bluegrass, from 6- 9pm.
They were finalists in the International Acoustic Music awards on XM
radio. The last Sunday of the month on the 24th have our favorites Halden Wofford & the Hi-Beams www.hibea ms.com and their zany honky tonk music.

BLUE GRASS THURSDAYS
Every Thursday 8-11pm
Bluegrass Thursdays are really going great and this month we start off with something different on the 7th with Bongo Love www.bongolove.com and
Musa Konate doing African Bluegrass- remember the banjo is an African
instrument that made its way to America many years ago. Musa is from
Mali and one of the best guitarists in the area.. Cory Harris when he
was at Oskar's recently requested Musa to play with him and it was
awesome.
Thursday the 14th is a group from Nederland that is very innovative called The Elephant Revival Concept www.itzevolving.com they play traditional bluegrass acoustic instruments but with a different, fresh feel.
Little Liza Jane www.littlelizajane.net will be here on the 21st. mostly from Lyons they have great harmonies and are terrific musicians.
The last Thursday should be a real treat with K.C. Groves www.kcgroves.com and the Spring Creek Bluegrass Band www.springcreekbluegrassband.com/">all from Lyons this band is fabulous and with K.C. fronting them it will be special.
