Start February off right with some hot music to keep warm by
Friday the 2nd we have the Shuffletones featuring
great harmonica by Ronnie Shellist. Ronnie hasn't been to Oskar's in
years and we are excited about his new band with Jeremy Vasquez on
searing guitar and a very tight rhythm section.
Saturday the 3rd we have David Booker's Blues band,
as usual David is bringing us something new with a line-up that
features two keyboardists. Mike Big Kat Kaylor a great piano player
from Nashville joins in and brings his great songs and boogie woogie
style to the mix.
Wednesday the 7th we have a special show from 7-11pm with The McCumberland Gap
Kort has some friends in town as well as his sister Beth on harmony
vocals and fiddle. Kort is excited to bring these special guests to
Oskar's and is playing for free because he wants to bring this music to
you so come on by for some great Americana music and drop something in
the tip jar for these guys.
Thursday the 8th brings back The Packway Handle Band from
Athens Georgia, where they have won many awards. Their show at
Rockygrass last year was one of the best ever. They successfully mix
gospel with the bluegrass and it is outstanding. Don't miss this one.
Friday the 9th is Chris Daniels & the Kings
an all time favorite of you dancing fools out there the band leaves in
April for their 16th trip to Europe where they play for Royalty and
giant crowds.
Saturday the 10th Delores Scott returns
from Chicago with Rex Peoples & X-Factr backing her up. The Lady
looks like Diana Ross, sings like Aretha and traveled with KoKo Taylor
for many years, she is incredible and a joy to hear.
We started an acoustic/electric blues jam last month sponsored by the Colorado Blues Society that
will be the second Monday of every month. All are welcome to join in
and is last month is any indication this is going to be a great night
for some laid back-blues and general good music.
The next week is Mardi- Gras week and we have got some great Nawlins
style music coming your way starting on Friday the 16th with Jockamo
a big band that does lots of great New Orleans stuff and more featuring
Skye Downing ( ex Miss Colorado) fronting the band. She is as easy to
look at, as the band is to listen to. Check them out on sonic bids.
Saturday the 17th we feature Bluekrewe half
of them are from Louisiana and they play lots of up-tempo funk from the
Meters and Neville Brothers. Be ready to party with this group, and
then on Fat Tuesday the 20th we will have a Cajun party with Amy & the Continentals.
Wear your costumes and masks and drink a few hurricanes. Amy &
drummer Willie Panker are from the crescent city and know how to party.
So let the good time roll.
One of the biggest draws and most fun bands is coming back on Feb. 23rd, Jason Ricci & New Blood Jason
and the band have been nominated for best artist of the year by Blues
Wax. Up against some great competition so go out on www.blueswax and
vote for the guys.
We end the month with Mary Russell & the Rox Blues band on the 24th
complete with Tom Johnson ex-sax player with Ray Charles the last time
around Mary left everybody wanting more so catch this six- piece
high-energy band.
Don't forget the Bluegrass pick & open stage that everyone in
Boulder County is talking about hosted by K. C. Groves and or Eric
Thorin every Tuesday night.
The great George Nelson will be up in the dinning room 6-9pm on February 17th for your listening pleasure.
