    COMEDY NIGHT
    December 13, 2006 8pm

This month we have a great line up for comedy! You definitely will not want to miss out on this one. Our crowds are growing and we have had such a great time the last couple of months.

Steve Gastineau will be here. Steve is a success story waiting to happen! He has spent the past ten years entertaining audiences with his sharp social commentary and his unique outlook. His lighthearted delivery combined with his observations on every day occurrences has rendered him a local favorite as well as at clubs and colleges across the country.

We also welcom David Sipos. David has performed stand-up professionally since the late 80's in well respected venues such as PunchlineClubs, Funny Bones and Improvs. He is a long-time member of the nationally-known improvisational group "Plastered in Paris". David fancies himself a screenwriter, and in fact had a film produced: "Mindkillers," a comedy/horror film popular in Japan and Serbo-Croatia and even shown on HBO and Showtime (in the US). David has also been anfeatured performer in many television commercials (one with the legendary John Elway), appeared in "Diagnosis Murder" starring Dick Van Dyke, and was the voice of the drug-addicted lab rat in "Homeward Bound IV: The Journey Ends". Tickets now on sale at Oskar Blues by phone or stop in. 303-823-6685, 303 Main St. in Lyons.

    December Music

Some great music this month starting on the first with Randy McAllister from Texas and his band. Randy is a Grammy nominated songwriter and will be joined by Texas guitar legend Mike Morgan.
The All Night Honky Tonk All-Stars make a rare appearance at Oskar’s or anywhere for that matter led by Danny Shafer and Rebecca Hogan this fine large honky tonk group has been on hiatus while the individual members tend to their separate career’s.
The great local Johnny O Band plays the 8th of December with their new bass player, who I’m told is filling the bass chair admirably.
Michele Malone after relocating from Boulder back to her home state of Georgia returns to play her raunchy style of blues with her small band that really rocks. Michele has a great voice and a distinctive guitar style that is very tense and enjoyable.

The next weekend features Blue Krewe on Friday the 15th and Halden Wofford and the HI-Beams on Saturday. Halden and the boys always serve up a good time with their wacky originals (There’s a Hippie in my House and Boris the Spider) and their good time oldies and reflective originals. Blue Krewe has roots in New Orleans and play lots of funky Nawlins material that is very danceable.

Friday the 22nd we have a special show with John Common (formally of Rainville) Westword says his latest CD is “Denver’s finest rock recording of the past decade”. John like your Blueologist is a big Tom Waits fan and he and the group will be doing the whole Raindogs album for us. We are looking for a few Waits addicts that want to do a couple of their favorite Waits’ songs to open the show call 303-823- 6273 to sign up the night of 12/22/06. Saturday night we have great bandleader, singer, songwriter, harmonica player Harmonica Red from Nashville and his tight blues band the New Heard. Red can really blow that harp and is a great entertainer who will more than likely walk the bar and play the harp without spilling any drinks.

The last weekend of December starts off the 29th with a special Kwanzaa celebration with Lyons own Bongo Love on vocals and percussion joined by Jon Blackdog Ridnell and Musa Konate on guitars. Both Musa and Bongo hail from Africa with Musa being one of the best highlife guitarist’s in the world, this will be something different but promises to be a very upbeat and fun night.
. Oskar’s graphic artist Terry Kishiyama also from Lyons and his tight three piece rock band The Interstate Stash Express dons the stage Saturday for a rockin’ good time.
New Years Eve we bring back local favorites Serious Bisnezz and their seven-piece orchestra for your dancing pleasure. They do lots of rock classics with Stevie Wonder and Little Feat chestnuts that will have you bobbin’ and dancing the night away come celebrate the New Year with us.

Tuesday night the 5th this month will be a treat with both the Lyons and Longmont high school bands will be showcasing their talented Jazz bands for you parents. Starting around 7:30pm be sure to get their early have some dinner and get yourself a seat it should be packed with both schools participating, the kids sound great this year as always.

    Sunday Shows

Sunday’s free shows this month start off with two great singer/songwriters playing together Sterling Waters from Minnesota will be joined by his old friend Boulder’s own Kort McCumber both are excellent musical talents and who knows who will show up to play with them but I guarantee it will be top-notch. Due to the football flex schedule the 3rd will be from 3-6pm with the Broncos on at 6:15pm. Wagontrain a new honky tonk group started by Caleb Roberts (from Open Road) will feature Lyonsite Caleb on baritone guitar and a few other local mighty fine players.
