September is action packed, the fun gets going September 6 with our 2nd annual Osktoberfest. We’ll
have bands from 2:30 PM until closing, the music is free all day and
night, the lineup includes Velvet Elvis, The Dangerfields, Buckskin
Stallion and Ash Ganley. We’ll also have a $10 all-you-can-eat buffet
of great German-style food, from brats and apple-glazed pork roast to
Bavarian-style barbecue.
Wash it down with our new Osktoberfest lager. It’s a German-style treat with a silky body, 5.8% ABV, and
satisfying flavors of lightly toasted grains and elegant
hops. We craft it with hefty amounts of Munich and North
American malt, English Crystal and Melanoidin
malts, and Northern Brewer and German-grown Opal hops. It’s a
divinely quaffable fall beer that'll make you want to oompah all night long.
Also on Sept 6, we’ll be presenting the SkirtChaser 5K
race in Denver, done in conjunction with the entrepreneurial fast women
at Skirts Sports. In these races, female runners get a head start and
are “chased” by male runners. The after party features live music by
Blues Krewe, Oskar Blues beer, a sportswear fashion show, and much more
fun. The beer and festivities are free to all runners, non-running
visitors can attend for $10. Get details at http://www.skirtchaser5k.com/
If you’re in the Breckenridge area on Sept, 6, make plans to attend the Mountain States Cup series
final. You can follow Dale’s Pale Ale/Spot Brand Bike team news from
our uncanny Olympian to our Colorado Women’s Pro points leader at www.oskarbluesbrewsbikes.blogspot.com
September Music
On the 4th we have the reunion of the Dangerfields, a group put together by K.C. Groves and Jefferson Hamer just to play Oskar Blues. They’ll be joined by Eben Grace on guitar for this show. On the 11th we feature Blackdog with Sally Van Meter, Eric Thorin, Dave Watts and Jon Ridnell. The 25th will have The Random Family String Band, a high-energy newgrass band from Taos, New Mexico.
Sundays in September get started on the 7th with a noon-4pm showcase by the great kids from Mojo’s Music Academy. Come on over and support these hard working young people. That same night from 6-9pm we welcome The Gougers, a four-piece Americana band out of Austin TX. On Sunday the 28th its Scott Von.
The weekend shows this month feature Bryan Lee (the blues king of Bourbon Street) the Band of Heathens (a rockin’ Americana band from Austin), and The Erica Brown Band.
Sadly, this will be the band’s last show, they’re calling it quits
after the gig. We’re honored that they picked Oskar Blues as the venue
for this historic farewell show. Other weekend highlights include Jeff Strahan, Mountain Jam’s Allman Brothers tribute, and the legendary Ronnie Baker Brooks, son of the great Lonnie Brooks.
