Brews Cruise Returns, Expands

“Highway to Hops”

The annual Boulder County Brews Cruise rides again this fall. The 2008 tour (dubbed “Highway to Hops”) is set for October 8, 2008, one day prior to the start of the 2008 Great American Beer Festival, October 9-11 at the Colorado Convention Center.

The 2008 Boulder County Brews Cruise will carry beer fiends to Avery Brewing, Boulder Beer Company, Left Hand Brewing Company, Oskar Blues Brewery & Pub (in Lyons), the new Oskar Blues Brewery (in Longmont), the Pumphouse Brewery and Redstone Meadery.

One of the 56-passenger tours will also stop at Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey. The pioneering Denver microdistillery makes its premium whiskey from a custom-made “distiller’s wash” produced by Oskar Blues Brewery.

For just $50, Brews Cruisers get a seat on the bus, free samples at each stop, a light breakfast, lunch, and a commemorative Highway to Hops T-shirt. Riders also get a 15% discount on all other beers and merchandise at each stop.

The 2008 Brews Cruise buses begin departing from the Colorado Convention Center (at 14th Street and Stout Street) at 8 AM on the morning of October 8. The Brews Cruises begin returning to the Convention center starting around 5 PM.

Last year's Cruise sold out in advance of the big day, so make your reservations now. Beer lovers can reserve seats on the three buses at  https://secure.lefthandbrewing.com/shop.aspx

Be a Superhero and Fight Bone Marrow Cancer at the First Annual Bone Marrow Drive and Bicycle Cruise.

Denver, CO 8/12/2008 08:42 PM GMT (TransWorldNews)

Denver-based international cancer organization, the Love Hope Strength Foundation (LHS), which recently set a Guiness record for highest music event held on land, is teaming up with DKMS, Oskar Blues Brewing and The Elm in Denver, Colorado to host the First Annual Bone Marrow Drive and Bicycle Cruise. All who attend are encouraged to dress in their most outrageous “Superhero” costumes to signify their willingness to join The Love Hope Strength Foundation in the battle against cancer. To participate, registrants are required to do nothing more than get a cheek swab and donate $25 to the Love Hope Strength Foundation. Those who partake in the comedic escapade will help lead the way towards finding bone marrow matches for the more than 27,000 Americans that go without a donor match each year. Out of the 30,000 in need last year only 3,000 people found a match.

Registration for the event takes place Saturday, August 23rd at 10:00 AM at The Elm on 5001 East Colfax Ave. Following registration, participants will begin their superhero bike cruise to Crestmoor Park (intersection of Cedar and Locust St) where they will battle head to head in competitive lawn games. The day will conclude with a cruise back to the Elm at 2:00 PM where registrants will be treated to costume prizes, drink specials, and the famous Oskar Blues "Beer Can Chicken BBQ”.

Mission of LHS:The Denver based Love Hope Strength Foundation (LHSF) is an international charity with chapters in the US, UK and Australia. The Love Hope Strength Foundation raises funds and awareness for international cancer centers and networks through music-related events and promotions. LHS believes that all people should have the opportunity to be screened and treated for cancer in their country. To accomplish this, LHS supports one cancer center in every country, one concert at a time.

Love Hope Strength has teamed up with the world's largest marrow donor center, DKMS, and Driving for Donors to build the bone marrow database and dispel the myths that bone marrow donation, if matched, is risky and painful. LAST YEAR 30,000 PEOPLE NEEDED BONE MARROW DONORS AND ONLY 3,000 FOUND A MATCH. Become a superhero for a day by registering to become a marrow donor. Registration requires only a cheek swab, and completion of a donor consent form. All registration fees are being paid for by our sponsors The Elm, Oskar Blues, Jim Beam, DKMS, and Otherside Creative.
